Apertures and Anxieties,

November 16th - December 21st, 2011
Artists celebrate 300 years of Trinity College Dublin School of Medicine, curated by Patrick T. Murphy. Eilis O' Connell's new sculptures and drawings explore microscopic imagery with particular reference to the use of the con focal microscope at The Insititute of Molecular Medicine, Trinity College. Combining found materials such as coral and willow with synthetic materials, she recreates molecular forms on a massive scale, revealing the invisible architecture of our internal structures.

A Rocky Road,

November 18th 2011 - January 14th 2012 curated by Sean Lynch, Crawford Art Gallery, Cork. A group show investigating artistic production and its reception in Ireland. Public response and the subsequent afterlife of an artwork are considered as themes of inquiry, as relevant as the the creative intentions that bring the artwork into being. O' Connell's collaboration with Lynch documents, through a slide show, the unauthorised changes and additions made to her sculpture over the years.
